29/5/2008: Demand for ICT Professionals to "Increase Exponentially"
During the announcement of the new Digital Development Council (see www.ddc.org.nz) Hon David Cunliffe, Minister of ICT, gave a very serious warning about the demand for ICT professionals growing exponentially over the next 5-10 years. We welcome the Minister singling this issue out for attention. See our press release here.

25/5/2008: NCEA Standards Report Released
The NZ Computer Society today released a highly anticipated report reviewing the NCEA ICT-related Achievement Standards in Secondary Schools. This report raises extremely serious concerns regarding the state of secondary school computing education. You can download the full report here and the associated press release here.

23/5/2008: NZCS Digital Strategy 2.0 Submission
The NZCS submission to the draft Digital Strategy 2.0 can be downloaded here. The Society focused on the Capability (in Confidence) section, as this is the area of NZ's digital development causing the most severe problems and realistically not being addressed adequately yet. 26/4/2008: Certification Discussion Paper

The NZCS will be shortly implementing a Professional Certification Programme as part of our efforts to transform the ICT sector into a true profession.
