ICTTop100 Lunch: ICT Management Competencies

15 April 2009: 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm

Auckland Club
34 Shortland Street
Auckland

ICTTop100 is a forum where senior ICT professionals and managers come together to discuss and debate a particular topic in detail, over a formal lunch.

Discussion takes place under the Chatham House rule, and the outcomes are then forwarded to various stakeholders (such as NZCS, Government, etc).

The Key Competencies of ICT Managers

This month's ICTTop100 will be discussing the Key Competencies of ICT Managers.

To lead competent teams in ICT the manager - whatever their title - needs their own role-specific competencies.

What are those competencies? When are they needed? When operating in what facet of your role?

Let us survey the full range, the options and the alternatives.

Are these needs addressed by courses? Are the courses readily available? At the right price?

Here are some possible courses we might discuss:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Customer Services
  • Group Facilitation
  • Influencing Skills
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Writing for Success
  • Resolving Conflict

And many more.

What are the really important competencies of CTOs and CIOs?
