ICTTop100 Lunch: What does Certification mean for you?
20 May 2009: 12:15 pm - 1:45 pm
Auckland Club

ICTTop100 is a forum where senior ICT professionals and managers come together to discuss and debate a particular topic in detail, over a formal lunch.
Discussion takes place under the Chatham House rule, and the outcomes are then forwarded to various stakeholders (such as NZCS, Government, etc).
Certification: What does it mean for you?
This month's ICTTop100 will be discussing Certification, and what internationally-aligned certification means for you.
Certification has been approved by the NZCS National Council. It will be to international standards and will be recognised in UK, Australia, USA, Canada and many other parts of the world.
But what does it mean for you, as an ICT leader?
In brief, and as well as entry requirements, Certification has three parts:
- 2 Skills in the Skills Framework for the Information Age at Level 5 or more
- Understanding of non-technical knowledge, such as Ethics, Good Practice and Law.
- Proof of general knowledge over the Core Body of Knowledge
Certification has been driven by a number of factors, including the failures of large government contracts. Certification will allow purchasers to insist that experienced and qualified staff will be provided as the primary resource on their projects.

- Recording job profiles?
- What should vendors do?
- What should purchasers do?
- What should PTEs do?
- How will it affect our AUPs and SOPs?
- How will it effect Recruiters and job applicants?
Let us discuss these topics and prepare our plans as a sector.
