Wellington Test Professionals Network presents: Testing is Asking Questions

Something testers should be good at, or get good at, is asking questions.  But they often fail to do this, when conforming to a process, subject to organisational silos or faced with tight time-frames.

Agile methods present greater opportunities for testers to contribute in positive and constructive ways earlier in the SDLC, but even within traditional frameworks it is important we get good at challenging executing software, draft designs, cumbersome processes and disjointed thinking.

This topic is about how even grass-roots testers can return real value to their team and organisation through raising perceptive and relevant questions of running software and of people.  Differences and opportunities available to testers when Agile practices are employed will be discussed.

About The Speaker

Kieron Horide-Hobley has over ten years experience in software testing, and nearly twenty years in IT.

He has a degree in Engineering and a penchant for breaking things to find out how they work, so found a home as a tester.

Having worked in a variety of sectors and industries, Kieron has perspectives on testing that are sometimes a step removed from production-line, gated software development, while keeping true to what’s important to his clients.

He is a certified Scrum Master and has run into plenty of pseudo-Agile projects, yet miraculously keeps smiling.
