Presentation: IPv6  - coming Ready or Not!

The need for your enterprise to be able to address IPv6 is rapidly approaching with the IPv4 addresses predicted by some to run out before the end of 2011. If you don’t have a plan to deal with IPv6, you are running out of time. As with all change on the Internet there are Information Security implications. Are you in a position to advise your enterprise on these issues?  Our session this month will help you become aware of what the potential security issues are and give you guidance on how to deal with them.

Our Presenters  are members of the IPv6 taskforce and ideally equipped to address us on the security issues and answer our questions.

Murray Milner  is the Convener of the New Zealand IPv6 Task Force. He has 34 years of experience in the ICT industry. Until September 2005 he was the Chief Technology Officer for Telecom New Zealand. During his career Murray has also held a variety of auxiliary positions within the wider industry, including: national, regional and international standards bodies; various government forums; national and international conferences and forums.

Murray has a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Canterbury. He has also undertaken post doctoral research in economics, public policy and telecommunication engineering at Carnegie Mellon and Stanford Universities in the USA.

Dean Pemberton  is a Senior Consultant with Prophecy Networks.  His role has a particularly broad scope, ranging from ICT policy development with CIOs to overseeing deployment of infrastructure. Dean is regularly involved with InternetNZ, and is currently chair of the IPv6 Steering Group TechSIG.  Dean has previously worked for Juniper Networks and Lucent Technologies in consulting and training roles.

Door Prize:

There will also be a $100 book token door prize for an ISSIG member selected at random.
