Buckle your seatbelts...
ITCP Launches Today!
NZCS are proud to announce that ITCP,
Information Technology Certified Professional, has finally launched!
ITCP is a formal professional certification assessing all aspects of the skills, competence, knowledge, responsibility and character required of senior IT professionals in New Zealand and has been created in conjunction with the international IT community.
Achievement
Make no mistake, this is a massive achievement for both New Zealand and NZCS. New Zealand has had an identified need for professional certification in IT for many years, and NZCS is proud to have delivered on the promise made by NZCS President Don Robertson and CEO Paul Matthews 18 months ago.
We're extremely proud of what our small team has achieved and the quality of the ITCP Certification. The method and process of our approach has already becoming the envy of the international community, and we in turn are looking forward to doing our bit and helping other countries achieve the same outcome in future.
However this process hasn't been easy, and those involved have achieved phenomenal results through sheer dedication focus and hard work. Whether it's the team of professionals at the core of the project, the literally hundreds that provided input along the way, those that lead and contributed to sub-projects in areas such as Professional Knowledge or those that governed the process, this was a monster achievement.
146 Certified to date
As many of you know NZCS launched a "FastTrack" Pre-application Process back in June. This was for those that had already completed a partial assessment as part of their NZCS (and other) professional membership, and we're proud to announce that to date 388 professionals have started the process, with 146 ITCP Certifications awarded today. Not bad for day 1.
ITCP Registry
In the interests of transparency, all professionals awarded ITCP are listed on a public Registry at
www.itcp.co.nz/registry
As well as CEOs, CIOs, Directors and Founders of some of New Zealand's most well known IT companies, the list includes a huge range of consultants, advisors, analysts, programmers, those providing IT in other sectors, and people from almost every walk of IT life. We have individuals from all camps - open source and commercial, importers and exports, technical and managerial.
More than this, those early adopters of ITCP should be absolutely proud, for it is they, not us, that have made ITCP what it is. A reality. A credible, professional, and high quality programme already gaining respect internationally and at home. We're proud that these individuals were prepared to get in and support this programme on day 1.
How to apply
Full details are contained on the ITCP website at
www.itcp.co.nz
While professional membership of your professional body is a necessity (as with every other profession), you do NOT have to be a member of NZCS before you can apply - you can complete both the NZCS Professional Membership application and the ITCP Certification process within the same process - see
www.itcp.co.nz for more info.
All ITCP Certification routes are now available, so if you're operating at the requisite standard there's a route for you whether or not you have a formal degree-level qualification, industry training, whether your a practicing IT professional, a professional IT academic or an an IT industry visionary.
If you meet the required level of competence, skills, knowledge and character, ITCP is for you.
The future
ITCP is here, and it's here to stay.
We've already had massive support from all corners of IT, whether it's the profession (with almost 400 starting the process before it was even launched), from industry (with all industry associations firmly supporting it, as well as many of IT's largest and smallest names), Government (with support at both the official level and Ministerial level), and academia (with many academic organisations and institutions lending their support).
ITCP is the future, and is an essential cornerstone to IT becoming a true recognised global profession, in New Zealand and while abroad.
Come join us at

Paul Matthews
