NZCS is proud to announce a conference like no other - a celebration of 50 years of Computing and ICT innovation in New Zealand.
We're bringing the entire IT sector together to simultaneously look back and celebrate the journey of the IT profession over the last 50 years, as well as to look forward to the innovations within and from our sector to come.
ICT shapes society, and this event will be both a celebration of the achievements within and with ICT, and a hugely powerful educational event focused on building IT innovation and entrepreneurialism in the future.
The 50th Anniversary Conference will be held in Rotorua on 16-18 September 2010. This is the computing and technology event in 2010.
We also invite you to read the Conference Introduction from Elizabeth Eastwood, Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee.

NZCS: 1960 - 2010 (and beyond!)
NZCS has been there from the start and this is a massive milestone for our profession and professional body. This conference will be exploring and celebrating the path of the IT profession from it's humble beginnings through to the pervasive technology of today.
However it's more than that. This conference will be an inclusive event for the whole sector - industry, academia, government and profession.
Call for Papers
The Call for Papers has now begun and the Programme Committee is seeking papers and presentations with high-calibre, attention-grabbing content to be profiled heavily in New Zealand as well as gaining international exposure.
The conference theme is "Reflecting on a 50-year journey, and the next one to come" with a strong focus on the innovative power of ICT.
We invite individuals and organisations to submit papers and presentations on theme-related practice and research, from ICT practitioners, researchers and decision makers from industry, government/public sector and academia.
Please visit the Conference Website for more information.
Sponsorship and Trade Exhibitions
There are a number of sponsorship and trade exhibition opportunities for organisations wanting to get involved in celebrating ICT innovation in New Zealand.
The ICT sector will come together in September 2010 to celebrate kiwi innovation through ICT, and this is an opportunity for organisations to play a key role in this milestone event.
please see www.innovation.org.nz/sponsorship for more information about how your organisation can get involved, or email conference@nzcs.org.nz for a sponsorship brochure or to discuss options.
Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are limited and will operate on a first-in, first-served basis, so if you're keen to get involved we'd strongly recommend you signal your interest as soon as possible.
Programme
The programme is still being finalised but will include:
- Some of the world's top kiwi innovative ICT entrepreneurs from the past, present and the entrepreneurs of the future
- A Barcamp (or "unconference"), exploring how the New Zealand environment can help create and support the next generation of ICT innovators
- A unique "Concept to Reality" series, exploring how to maximise the opportunity for success through all steps involved in taking an ICT concept through to commercial reality
- Workshops on a number of ICT-related topics from top presenters
- Nationwide postgraduate research competition and award
- Presentations and panel on the state of ICT education in schools
This conference will have something for everyone.
Spread the word!
This will be a momentous occasion and has the potential to be the most significant ICT event in living memory. However it will only live up to this potential with the help of our members, friends, colleagues and supporters.
Help spread the word, and help make this celebration of 50 years of ICT innovation a celebration to remember.
